NBA Player Swen Nater Visits Matteo’s

Swen Nater played College Basketball at UCLA under legendary coach John Wooden. Nater helped the Bruins win two NCAA Basketball Titles. He played behind All American Bill Walton.

Nater was drafted in the first round of the NBA draft with the 16th overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks. He has the distinction of being the only NBA first round pick who played in the NCAA without ever starting a college game.

He was in Cleveland to attend a Nike Basketball camp. His host, Craig Lucas, wanted to take Nater out to a good Italian restaurant. Craig had heard through friends that Matteo’s Casual Italian Restaurant in Olmsted Falls had arguably the best Italian food in town.

Craig brought Swen Nater to Matteo’s with a number of other guests. Nater who has dined all over the world sent owner Tom Grassi the following note:

Tom, what a wonderful restaurant you have. It’s alive. Food is authentic and the service is hospitable. I also like the set up. Nicely done. You must be proud of what you have accomplished, especially starting in the restaurant business recently.
